Featuring: "FREE technology you can use" (Business Edition)

Our Goal::

In order to promote a better understanding of emerging technologies, especially online activities, many outstanding free incentives are being provided via this monthly newsletter.

Many of the online tutorials, courses, tech support websites, and business software programs have already been located and categorized in the popular, award-winning website:
"Bob Bowman's Guide to Free Educational Technology"
<http://www.user.shentel.net/rbowman>.

"I know that a little guidance and a little assistance goes a long way. That's why I'm making it easy for businesses and consultants to publish newsletters which will help their work teams and clients see more benefits of technology."

Project Editor: Bob Bowman
Contributing authors are Charlie Ross, Beth Bowman, and David Bowman

Tips of the Month
Frequent Multiple Backups (say every 10 minutes) to both the hard drive and to a floppy will help to prevent data losses, especially during thunderstorm power outages, but the second best data loss prevention strategy is to use a Computer Virus Checker on a regular basis (and more frequently if diskettes are being transferred between offices or external locations). One very popular DOS-based program F-PROT is free for private use and it can both detect and disinfect all the known viruses. Get your copy at:

Parental Blocking Software programs were reviewed quite a while back by a link in the Department of Education's website. Parents can review many of the browsers and other programs which filter the Internet for their children: See them at:

Top Freeware:
Medved's freeware QuoteTracker program is our pick of the month. It runs under Microsoft® Windows® and will pull out quotes from financial sites you select from an available web list, and among other feats, alerts you when the price goals you set are reached.

This freeware version employs banner ads as the program runs.
